Bill Richardson Ends White House Bid

Posted by vmsalama on January 10, 2008

I just heard New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson announce he will not continue his bid for the Democratic nomination.  It’s really too bad.  His credentials are impressive and his committment to American foreign policy is, I believe, unmatched by any other candidate. As we head toward Super Duper Tuesday, I’m sure we’ll be hearing more announcements similar to this one.

It IS sad that Richardson ended his bid, however – smart. Richardson is what we call a political tragic hero. He has the credentials to be the President, but he lacks the personae to win the people’s hearts. And frankly, I feel that this upcoming election holds more emotional insight into the candidates than previous elections. We need a president that will bind Americans together, and this is primarily the reason why junior senators are even being looked at! His background has been overlooked since the start of debates, and I wouldn’t be surprised if his hispanic background had any subconcious effect on the voters of the primaries. I’m hoping Richardson is at least appointed into the president’s cabinet – I feel he will make more of an impact there, then as governor.
